We start off this month is a vacation! We are heading to Annapolis for the sailboat show. We take a detour to Williamsburg for a couple of days for a visit with family and friends before we head to the show to meet and greet with sponsors and vendors who have helped us to get to this point of the boat. We are picking up the windlass from Schafer Marine who is using our windlass as a demo at the boat show. We also are meeting with Mantus Marine for partnership with our new anchor, dinghy anchor, scuba compressor and a few other things that are needed.
Well the update since the last post was the the burning question.... how did we fare in the hurricane? There was no damage to our boat however, there were some very scary times. At times, we didn't know if we should pack up and get off the dock or continue to stay and wait it out. The docks are floating so at some point you could imagine that all of the boats could just lift off the dock. It came close at one point, that Andy said there was 2-3 feet from the top as the storm surge was so high. We made it though. The hurricane did claim one boat who tied up the outer docks which is not recommended during a storm because it can be so rough. Sadly, that boat sank and it completely broke my heart to watch this happen.
Happy new month to all! What shall we accomplish this month? Well for the 1st day of the month, we woke up on to boat and decided to check the lights because we don't think we have ever actually turned on the anchor light so we don't know if it really works. We were happy to say that "Yes" our anchor light does work and shines so brightly... One more step to getting off the dock and onto the water to stay on the hook.
Andy kept the 1st week of July off that was originally to be used for vacation time but since I (Nancy) started a new job, I was not able to take off the week as well. Once again this was a slow month for progress on the boat.
Well we closed on the house at the end of last month and have taken a few weeks off to try and get settled between moving to the RV and boat and it’s been quite a challenge. As I make this update (it’s currently mid July) and my Jeep still looks like I am living in it. I started a new job at the end of May as well and that has been a learning curve for me as well. I now commute daily to the office but hey I can bring my fur baby to work so that is something. I try to take him in at least once a week right now.
