So we had big plans for the day... Got to the boat and seriously, it's a beautiful day so why work? Completely lost all motivation to do anything... Nancy just sat and stared out, watching the boats sail on by.. Andy just can not not do anything... he loves and needs to tinker... so he decided to fix the one serious leak we found in the companion way... but he used the 5200 that was black and I need to seal the cockpit floor to stop another leak in the engine room. Since that one was not bad, I wasn't too upset. Just means another trip to West Marine or another item to add to the next order for Amazon.
How Exciting! Today is the day that we take plunge and move S/V Free Spirit from Cutts Edge Marina in Palmetto, FL to our new homeport in Clearwater, FL. She will now only be 15 minutes from us and I expect that we will be on board with her in the evenings now as we continue the adventure and never ending list of projects to get her done.
What a nice surprise today. We received an email with a few photos from the Yacht Rigger. He was able to put up 3 of the 4 sails on today. Wow does Free Spirit look ready to go now! We are hoping to be able to shut off the motor and sail her home once we clear out of the marina and the channel. It would be so cool to see her in all her glory once again. We can't wait to get some more sailing time in and start enjoying this amazing sailboat and have some exciting new adventures.
Well the day has finally arrived! Today is the day that we splashed in the water. The engine was finally running and everything looks good. We decided to leave Free Spirit in the water for an extra week rather than trying to take of tomorrow. We needed to ensure there were no leaks or water seeping in. Luckily, while a stressful day, all went as planned. There is nothing more stressful or scary than to watch your beloved vessel being hoisted and carried away and praying that she doesn't fall out of the slings and onto the ground. They added an extra rope on the bottom in order to keep her stable during the move from the hard ground to water. She sat in the sling for about 2 hours before we moved her 250ft to her temp slip for the week. We will have finishing work to complete before she sails home next week.
Our YouTube Channel is now live and we have posted several videos and have had one live stream event. Join us each Friday as a new video is released to show the progress of Free Spirit. This week was a huge a milestone as we moved from So FL to Palmetto to begin the retrofit process on the hard.
Join us for the adventure and journey as we strive to "Never Stop Learning" throughout this process.
