After surviving the hurricane, we decided to leave for Annapolis early. We will be stopping in Savannah, GA for a few nights and then head out to VA to visit family before our final destination in Annapolis, MD for the largest US Sailboat Show.
In Savannah, we walk the riverwalk and explore all of the little shops and experience a great meal where I am forever ruined when it comes to fried chicken. Seriously, no one makes fried chicken like Ms. Paula Dean! Definitely, worth the experience if you are ever in Savannah. We saw where the opening credits for Forest Gump were filmed and experienced the old south.
Next we head up to VA to visit family for a few days. Parents are in ill health so we wanted to spend some time with them. Brought them to where we were camping and played cribbage and Nancy did her awesome cooking for all including desserts.
We arrived in Annapolis a day earlier than planned (oops) good thing there was still some room at the campground for us... We spend the day walking around historic Annapolis and take in a self guided tour of the US Naval Academy. We crossed over the Chesapeake Bridge because Nancy just has to find a beach to put her feet in no matter what temp the water is.
We also head to Bacon Sails where we were able to locate some items needed for the boat including, a hot water heater and poop box (black waste tank) so we can get started on project when we get back home.
We have a pre-meet on Wednesday before the show to pick up our credentials and meet up with everyone. Can I say we were just star struck? Just about ever sailing channel that we watch that has inspired us to start our own journey was there! All we could do at first was just be wall flowers, but we mellowed out a started to mingle and chat with everyone. It was a very fun evening for sure.
On to the busy part of the trip - we started with out day in the YouTube booth at 10 am and went on about the rest of the week.
It hurt to come back home on Sunday AM - we left the campgound at 3am and did a straight drive thru to get home. We only had a pet sitter until Sunday and needed monday to get ready to get back to work. Puppies were happy we were now home.
