What an exciting time over the next couple of days. The jeep is loaded up with items that are going on the boat and they will go for a ride tomorrow to Stuart, FL to pick up the Mast at the indoor storage and then to Indiantown to become one with Free Spirit. All will be placed on a transport for shipping up to the Marina in Palmetto, FL.
Free Spirit will be delivered to her new home port on Tuesday. We then have 2 weeks to get her to be able to float and water ready. (This is different than sail ready). Project list for the next 2 weeks is pretty massive however, the priority of items are as follows:
- Add 2nd coat of Bilge Paint to Engine Room
- Remove & Replace all below water line thru hulls
- Seal any thru hulls that will not be used now (maybe needed in the future?)
- Sand and bottom paint with anti-fowl (for now she will just be sitting at the dock in the marina)
- Paint the line (Gold) just above water line
- Install Engine
- Install Transducer
- Install Prop & Rudder shaft seals
- Install Safety Lines
- Install Bimini & Dodger (because we will need some shade to work on her)
- Sand all exterior Teak wood including bow sprit & design on sides
- Apply Varnish to exterior teak to seal
- Remove Teak from cockpit floor (sand and varnish)
- Remove all teak from cockpit area and seal all holes (no more splinters, yay!!)
- Remove propane and copper lines (previously used for cooking, changing to electric)
- Connect, repair and install Air Conditioner Unit
- Install all fans for interior Galley/Settee Areas
- Remove prior name of boat (FKA: Scottie) and add new name: SV-Free Spirit
And that should do it for this next step or as I like to call it Phase 1... Be on the lookout for updates over the next 2 weeks with some progress photos. Until then... "Never Stop Learning"
