Well he have been making some slow progress on the boat as we have been waiting for 2 months to get the new engine. We had done everything we possibly could to make Free Spirit water tight and sea ready. Now comes the fun part. The masts are just about ready to be installed and yesterday we picked up the "new to us" engine from Yachts & Diesel in Fort Lauderdale. This has been a long and very tiring process to get us to this point but this is now comes the exciting part. The engine is home with us and we will get her installed and get the masts stepped and sails on. Super excited to see the next transformation and to get us to the next step.
We hope to be in the water in the next 2 weeks but this is a boat so your should at the very least double or triple your time for expectation of anything you do on a boat. With that being said, I would be extremely happy if we were in the water by the end of the month.
I have few photos of the engine and more updates will be published more frequently. Yes, we know the engine doesn't look pretty but it wasn't worth waiting another 2 weeks for it to be painted blue so we took it as is and we will paint it ourselves. Andy needs to get a few more things for it and we should be all set.
Please go to our YouTube page (sailing free spirit) to watch the progress from the beginning. The videos are getting more interesting as time passes and you can see the updates. We will have another YouTube live event once we have moved her to her new spot in Clearwater so stay tuned for that event coming up.
