Wow what a month it has been… We received our package from Total Boat for the repairs that were needed due to the Fire a few months ago. Total boat really hooked us up. They sent Gelcoat with 9 different color pigments, fiberglass mat and supplies to add the new shelf for the generator and new varnish for the teak to shine along with some cleaners to see if we can help get the stain removed.
Amazon had a deal on the 3 hatch covers so those were ordered and we think the AC pump in the aft cabin is going out so that might need to be replaced soon.
We picked up the Dinghy and had a day of adventures so we can get the engine broken in. We have all of the navigation lights to put on still but it’s baby steps. For now we will trailer the dinghy to the docks on the weekends and haul “More Better” out until we can get the davits completed and installed.
New Chart plotter and Radar have also come in along with some other goodies that I am sure I am forgetting. We had Brad with Paradise Yacht come in and install a new ham radio antenna on the Mizzen mast, installed new deck light on the Mizzen, installed the new Ray Marine Radar and did a complete inspection of the all of the rigging (just in case we decide to actually leave in May; more on that later).
I finally got upset that we couldn’t walk around either in the Salon or the Cockpit so we had to buckle down and get some work done. Spent a weekend, getting the new chart plotter all fitted and connected in the helm station, Andy got the deck light power connected and working (Brad only installed it and ran the wiring), hooked up the new SUP racks on the Port and Starboard sides of Free Spirit and got the SUP off the deck. I also started to work on getting the cushions completed since we have been without a sitting area in the cockpit for a few months. I also needed to make sure the foam was still good and didn’t get any mold from being wet with the rains we had previously. Everything appears to be in good order so onward we go. So this past weekend felt like we move the needle forward and closer to us being fully self stained and leaving the dock.
Week before thanksgiving… Andy has taken some days off and let’s see if we can get some more work done…. Nancy made a feast on the boat, we cooked a turkey breast on the Weber grill and made all of the fixings in the oven. Green Bean Casserole, Dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy and honey butter biscuts… then the kids wanted dessert so we made a chocolate cake!
We took “More Better” out with the dogs for their 1st trip to a local island and a ride in the dinghy over to One Tree Island. What can I say? The pups had a grand time. They didn’t care that the water was cold, they all went for a swim and had a very exciting day.
More Better was also involved in a dingy race… we came in 1st but I think they let us win since the dinghy ahead of us have a 70hp motor vs our 25 hp motor….
What will December hold for us???
