Happy new month to all! What shall we accomplish this month? Well for the 1st day of the month, we woke up on to boat and decided to check the lights because we don’t think we have ever actually turned on the anchor light so we don’t know if it really works. We were happy to say that “Yes” our anchor light does work and shines so brightly… One more step to getting off the dock and onto the water to stay on the hook.
On the 4th, Andy was at the dock and met with some friends who were coming back from the Bahamas since they have been gone since April. So while waiting for them, he did some maintenance on our portable Honda generator and got the muffler changed out. We both also put on our dive gear to scrub the bottom of the boat.
We also took Dingleberry out for a family outing to meet up with some friends at another marina and spent the day as a family with the kids and played in the pool and had a good time overall. This was a good test for dingleberry however, we do need a stronger motor. The 5 hp just doesn’t get us anywhere fast.
Andy had to take off for 2 weeks for a work trip so it was just me. I went out to the boat to spend the “time off” with friends and it was needed to recharge us. It’s summer time in the gulf of mexico and the water is so warm. We were able to hang out on the rather large float and enjoy some drinks and laughs.
We ended out the month with storm preparation as we wait for Hurricane Idalia to come. While we aren’t expecting a direct hit we are not on the best side of the storm and fully expect a huge storm sure of 8-12 feet. We will be staying on board for this storm as this is our home and we don’t really have any place else to go. Andy has to be ready to go into work for emergency services if needed so we can’t go out on the hook. The dock is our best bet for now… stay tuned for the updates.
