Andy kept the 1st week of July off that was originally to be used for vacation time but since I (Nancy) started a new job, I was not able to take off the week as well. Once again this was a slow month for progress on the boat.
There was a dock gathering for the 4th of July and we sat out on the dock and watched the fireworks happen. There was lots of good eats and some fun had by all. It was also still opening of coachman park and there were a ton of people. We used the oven for the 1st time and made a blueberry cobbler and some cornbread in my new cast iron skillets. Can I say wow, that was amazing?!
Andy was able to get the boat re-wired to 50 amp service! That was a huge undertaking but at least we won’t blow anymore breakers when I go to use something on the stove and the air conditioners are running.
Projects completed this month were as follows: Nancy completed the settee back cushion. So that is done, upgraded the galvanisonic isolator, upgraded the main breaker panel to 50 amps, Moved the sub panel to where the inverter would run off batteries and no longer bypass, installed the hybird dc panel for 12/24 volts, plumbed the shower sump pump, installed the 2nd fuel tank fuel hose and deck fill, installed the poop box sensor so we can now tell when its full, replaced and installed the new porthole window in the master cabin, wet sanded the companion way door and a couple of windows to see if we needed to replace them or if this will fix the issue with us seeing thru, made a 2nd shelf under the sink for additional storage, mended all torn cockpit cushions.
Nancy of course, re-provisioned the boat with additional food and completed the re-organization of the galley to make it easier to locate and use items.
What a month! We also were challenged to have the boat ready for the 1st shake down cruise. So there is a lot that needs to be ready for this to happen along with the ongoing issue of the windlass. Time will tell if we will be ready by Labor day weekend for our 1st weekend on the hook…. Challenge has been accepted… stay tuned for updates. Oh did I mention that Andy has to be in NC for a work trip for 2 weeks in Aug so there will not be much work done at all. Will update again for August.
